Rojas is a contemplative piece created specifically to be screened during the Lava Circular festival (El Hierro, 2024). This project is a tribute to the huts demolished on the coast of El Sauzal (in northern Tenerife) in 2006. This settlement held over fifty years of memories for the local families from the area who had their vacation and leisure spots there.
Everyone appearing in front of the camera are members of my family. I aimed to recreate the images from the family archive in my grandfather’s hut, a place that no longer exists but one we all still see every time we go down there.
